This little shop is run by a sweet couple. There's probably about 16 seats total. I've been here a couple times and the food and experience has been amazing each time.
Omakase is $35 and I don't think you can find omakase in Vancouver with the same quality anywhere in BC at that price.
Mmmm drooling thinking about it. Can't wait to come back. Just a note that because it is run by two people you'll need to be patient when it's super busy. -

Wow.... literally the most overhyped sushi place ever. I mean you get what you paid for. I heard they have a fantastically cheap omakase and they have upped the price since I heard about it.
It's $35 pp and that's quite cheap for omakase. Upon further research, the multi-course that we come to know about is in Vancouver called omakase is actually called Kaiseki. So by definition, omakase - 'leaving it up to the chef' to provide the highest quality and innovation in sushi seems about right for just sushi.
Moral here is don't be fool by the word 'omakase' , you're basically getting the chef's special.
A chef's special is what we got. The first issue I found was, when our sushi was brought to us, the server did not explain what fish was being served. I believe we got all of daily specials but the quality just wasn't there.
Now second issue was...I found two bones in two of my nigiri's. That's a no no.
The third issue was the cone - which I suspect is toro was super oily. Like you can see the oil on my hands and I had to wipe it off with my napkin. Like wow...
Bottom line, it's just a chef's special that's been hyped up to be omakase. If you live nearby, not bad but no need to drive out for this. -

Amazing chirashi! But make sure to get the deluxe version! If I lived closer to here it would definitely be my regular spot. They also have nigiri omakase but a little pricey for just lunch as it's the same price at dinner but equally as amazing. It's a small shop run by lovely old couple from Japan. Price is reasonable for the amazing quality of the fish

A great local sushi spot in Port Moody. It seems like it is most definitely family-run. It's not fancy by any means, and the prices are a little higher than I'm used to in Vancouver, but I would rather pay for quality out here (as I have been to a couple of dives nearby). Service isn't super quick, but the food is fresh and delicious! I'll be back

Today we went to try the Omakase ($35) from Matsuzushi in Port Moody. Fresh and simple mom and pop shop. It had 11 nigiri and temaki. Loved the toro, it was my first good experience at such an affordable pricepoint!
Definitely need a reservation if you go on a weekend after 6pm! We walked in around 5pm, so luckily we got a seat. We also got a Deluxe Chirashi Don ($22) to try. For this price point, you got high quality fish, they weren't stingy at all! It had similar fish as the Omakase, but in bowl form minus the toro, but you got tamago and ikura.
Overall it was a good experience, besides the slightly slow service.
